International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), established in 1986, aims to shine a light on infection prevention each and every year. Last year’s IIPW focused on highlighting the past 50 years of infection prevention and looking forward to a bright future. IIPW 2023’s theme is “Celebrating the Fundamentals of Infection Prevention” which highlights getting back to the basics of infection prevention for everybody.

Infection Prevention & Control Department will launch Basic Infection Control Skills License (BICSL) program at Bahria Town International Hospital Lahore from October 17-20, 2023.

Objectives

  1. To give practical training to all healthcare workers includes doctors, nurses, and technicians and housekeeping staff.
  2. To assess the competency of each participants on all basic infection prevention and control topics discussed.

Subjects of Training

 Basic infection prevention and control subjects are divided into five stations for practical training and assessment;

  1. Hand Hygiene
  2. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and transmission based isolation precautions.
  3. Hospital waste management and cleaning of blood spills (code Orange)
  4. Management of blood & body fluid
  5. Aseptic Technique and hospital approved disinfectant and how to use
